Can you fly to Skiathos Island
A question that I am asked several times per year while visiting other countries in Europe and abroad is, does Skiathos have its own Airport.
The simple answer is YES, you can fly to Skiathos!
Skiathos Airport ‘Alexandros Papadiamantis’ is the most used airport in the Sporades and mostly used for tourists visiting Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos Islands.
About 450.000 people use the airport of Skiathos yearly, connecting several major cities in Europe with the Sporades Islands and Skiathos. The Airport of Skiathos has 2 main buildings, the small one is being used for domestic flights within Greece and the big building is being used for International flights. From the end of April to October, the airport is being used daily connecting some of the biggest cities in Europe with Skiathos. The most frequent flights are from Copenhagen, London, Manchester, Stockholm, Oslo, Milano, Rome, and Frankfurt.
Fridays are the busiest
Most weekly arrivals happen on Fridays, around 30 airplanes land and depart from Skiathos Airport. If you are departing from Skiathos on a Friday, do not forget to be in the Airport at least 2 Hours before your departure to make sure you will not be late for your flight.
Skiathos Airport is also a great hub for Private Airplane owners, using the airport as the go-to destination in the heart of the Aegean Sea.
Transfers and Taxi
If you have booked a transfer through your travel agency, you do not have to worry about getting to your hotel or next destination. If you have not booked any transfers, you can find taxies outside the main arrival hall. We do recommend you to book your transfer or Taxi before arriving in Skiathos. Fridays can be a hassle as there are only 23 Taxies on the Island, so plan your vacation well ahead.
